2012-08-15 Mission Brief – Dan Roten

Dear Praying Friends,

Warmest greetings to you all. We count it a privilege to co-labor with you in the Lord’s harvest fields. We thank the Lord upon every remembrance of you, and remember you often in prayer, as we know you do for us.

We have been much encouraged to see new visitors each of the last 4 or 5 Sundays. They would include one Christian sister in the Lord, and 4 other lost adults and 3 children. (This does not include my family or Sherwood people.) One of them, Reina, works for the bilingual weekly newspaper El Latino, and was able to publish a free classified ad for us–I have attached a copy of the ad for you to see. Please pray for these who are visiting, and that the Lord would continue to bring new ones to hear the Gospel. Pray for me, that the personal visits, invitations and witness would reach many, and most of all that there will be everlasting fruit to the glory of God!

Numbers at the prison can fluctuate from 3 to 10 every week. The faithful ones seem to be growing in understanding and spiritual maturity. At least 2 have been released from prison since I first began teaching there. Please pray that our teaching would be blessed to help prepare them for an honest and godly lifestyle as they return to a life of freedom. Since my group is Spanish-speaking, some of them are sent to foreign countries when they are released. I pray that this would be an unexpected means of sending the Gospel to Latin American countries.

I have also been updating the website with new audio sermons. There have been good responses to this, too.

I stay busy with the ministry. Janet and our youngest son Daniel are working hard at starting a business. Our daughter Rosalynn is busy mothering 4 children — the youngest turned 5 today. Joshua still lives in McAllen, is married to Marisol, and they are expecting a baby. Michael just got back from a short-term mission trip to the Dominican Republic, and is moving next week to Denton, TX. Janet and I both labor with daily health issues, but the Lord enables us to keep on.

Sherwood Baptist Church is now meeting in new facilities. The work is not yet finished, but is progressing steadfastly. The church now has changed the mailing address where I receive our mission support checks. Please send all mission checks to the following address:

We love you much in the Lord, and thank the Lord for your prayers and financial support!

Grace and Peace,
Danny G. Roten
