2012-09-26 Mission Brief — Dan Roten

Dear Praying Friends,

The Lord exhorts us to pray for laborers – Mt 9:38. The Lord sends us to go and teach all nations, baptizing and teaching the disciples – Mt. 28:19-20. His redeemed must hear, and most assuredly they shall believe: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Rom 10:14-15). It is a joy and privilege to serve Him in His work of gathering in His lost sheep. But we must go find them, wherever they are — we must not just wait for them to come to us!

Recent weeks have been blessed with fruit. We are nearing three months that we have had visitors in every Sunday service. It is a special joy to report that Olga, a young mother of 4, recently confessed her faith in the Lord. Please pray for her and her family – especially that the Lord would also work in her husband’s heart.

In the federal prison, one man to whom I have been preaching weekly for nine months has requested baptism. Some that I have preached to there for months have already been released, some to foreign countries, and all of them leave affirming a determination to serve the Lord and to bless others with the Gospel truths that they have learned.

I have lately sent books, tracts and CDs to pastors in Peru and Mexico. Pray for Pastor Tomás from Nuevo Progreso, who will be preaching this weekend in Torreon, a city which is now dealing with extensive violence, and his trip will take him along one of the most dangerous routes in Mexico.

Please make a note that Sherwood Baptist Church has a new mailing address. Our financial supporters need to be sure that the one who mails out mission support checks has the new address:
